Dear Church Family,

Last Sunday laid the foundation for our up-coming Global Missions emphasis, “Pray, Give, Go, So the World May Know.”  God stirred our hearts as we reflected on the truth that He loves the world and each of us has an obligation to reach the world with the gospel.  What a blessing it was during the invitation to see the people of CrossPointe on their knees asking God to bless our missionaries and to speak to our hearts about the people of the world and their needs.

This Sunday, April 25, we start our conference and if last Sunday is an indicator, it should be great.  Our missionary guests are Barry and Linda Jones to Southeast Asia, Bobby and Lisa Bechtel to Kenya, T.J. and Kimberly Gritts to Spain, Cody and Dannielle Wilbanks to Italy, and Jeanette Gillespie to Peru.  We have a mixture of veteran and young missionaries.

Remember this Sunday, BOTH OF OUR CAMPUSES are meeting at BLUE RIDGE starting at 10:00 a.m. (no service at Creekmoor). All adult classes (ABC, Neighborhood, Shepherds, Elevate, and Student Ministries) will meet in the auditorium for our opening challenge followed by “breakaways” with two of our missionary couples.  During the morning all of the Children’s Ministries will enjoy a special mission’s emphasis.   If you would like a complete schedule of the week which include Breakaways on Thursday, Ladies F.A.R Missions Boutique Shower on Friday, and Burgers and Bullets Men’s Lunch on Saturday, all the information is on our web site at www.mycrosspointe.org

One of the exciting aspects of the week will be our Missions Banquet on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.   Catered BBQ from Hickory Pit with all the trimmings will be served.  Reserve a place for you and your family by getting your tickets this Sunday.

Please pray for God to burden our hearts so that we might see the world thru His eyes.  I’ve asked our church to pray specifically for three things.

1. To use our missionaries to speak to our hearts.
2. To call some in our church to give their lives to full time service
3. To ask what can I personally and financially do to help our missionaries.

Will you join me in prayer about these matters?

For reaching the world,
Pastor Bill

Dear Church Family,

Easter Sunday 2010 was wonderful at CrossPointe.  Both of our campuses had many new people attending for the first time.  There were several new families as a direct result of our “egg toss" and best of all, two young men received Christ as their Savior.  Thank you church for your hard work and faithfulness to invite others to our services.

I know that spring is a very hectic time of the year for our families, but there are two special dates you want to mark.  This Sunday, April 11, we have as our guests, Dr. Ron Sears and his wife, Marilyn.  Presently, Ron pastors the First Baptist Church in New Castle, Delaware.  He and Marilyn bring a wealth of life experiences gleaned from 40 years of ministry.  Ron is practical and biblical in his presentation of God’s Word.  I know his ministry will be a blessing and a challenge to our church. Most of you know he is one of my best friends in life. For our new families I want you to meet him.  Just don’t believe anything he says about me!

Then, our Missions Conference, “Pray, Give, Go” is planned for April 25-May 2.  We have a busy schedule filled with different venues to interact with five missionary families which Includes break outs, a banquet Wednesday evening ( purchase tickets beginning this Sunday),  a Ladies Missions Boutique Shower on Friday, Burgers and Bullets for our men on Saturday and then on Sunday, May 2, we will take our faith promise offering to celebrate what God has done!  Please pray for our missionaries to touch our hearts with their passion for the world.

Finally, Men don’t forget tonight begins our Men’s Ministry, Quest for Authentic Manhood @ 7:00 pm.

Dear Church Family,

Last Sunday when both of CrossPointe’s campuses met together, there was an enthusiastic spirit which was energized by God’s Spirit.  The gym was packed with people giving us a prospective of things to come for our church.  As our people were leaving the service many volunteered to help toss 5,000 eggs in yards throughout Raymore with an invitation to our Easter services.  Thanks to all of you who committed time to make this happen.  If you haven’t yet thrown your eggs, please do so as soon as possible!!!  It won’t happen without YOU.  I am praying that God would especially direct “our eggs” to those who especially need to hear about our Living Savior.

In a recent survey, the question was asked, “If you were invited to attend church on Easter how would you respond?”    Are you ready for this?   82% said…..YES! With that in mind, who do YOU need to invite this Sunday to CrossPointe for Easter?

March 24, 2010

Dear Church Family,

What is that old saying about March? “In like a lamb, out like a lion” or “In like a lion, out like a lamb.”

Well, spring came roaring into Kansas City last weekend like an untamed lion with ten inches of snow in its tracks. Honestly, I love snow, but don’t you think we have had enough to last until next winter?

Because of the weather conditions, the Creekmoor campus was closed and we all met at Blue Ridge.  Despite the treacherous side streets, cold biting winds, and a TV station announcing both of our campuses were closed, we still had a great time together in God’s house. The weekend snows this year have played havoc with our finances. Please accept my gratitude in advance for your continued faithfulness in this area.

This Sunday, March 28, is Palm Sunday. Both of our campuses will be meeting at Creekmoor for a combined worship service from 9:00-10:30 a.m. My message and the special music will focus on the crucifixion as we conclude our time together with the Lord’s Supper.

As we depart the services, I am asking all of our families to participate in our Easter Outreach. Five thousand plastic eggs have been prepared with an invitation to our Easter services. These eggs will be distributed in residents’ yards. This is going to take a united effort on our part, but what an opportunity to share the resurrection story.

Come praying and anticipating a meaningful Palm Sunday together.

Because He Lives,
Pastor Bill

Dear Church Family,

Last Sunday certainly was a memorable day as we celebrated our church’s 56th anniversary along with my 10th as your pastor.  It was exciting to see so many from our Creekmoor campus join us for our second service and stay for lunch.  The Fellowship Hall was packed.  The serving tables were overflowing with food.  There was a spirit of unity as we reflected on our past and looked ahead to our future.  Vivian and I thank you for allowing us to serve our Savior with you and are anxious to see what He has in store for the future of CrossPointe.

A quick reminder to set your clocks ahead Saturday night as this Sunday, March 14,  is Time Change. Just thinking about it makes me tired.    This is the one where we “lose” an hour of sleep, so go to bed early.  Remember, you will be able to vote for our deacons' election at either of our campuses.

Mark your calendars for March 28 because we will have a combined service at Creekmoor Elementary School.  Both the Blue Ridge and Creekmoor campuses will worship together at 9:00 am.  During the service we will observe the Lord’s Supper.  This will be a first for CrossPointe Baptist Church.  (There will be no service at Blue Ridge).

Let’s keep our focus on Reaching People…Changing the World,

Pastor Bill
